Our Values – What We Believe

We believe “health” supplements should contain “healthy” ingredients.

We believe in challenging the status quo by using ingredients of natural origin and avoiding ingredients that require *health warnings or are ‡banned in certain countries, irrespective of their widespread acceptance and use by our competitors.

We think different because we refuse to listen to the established wisdom of industry “experts” who assure us that it’s difficult (and costly) to formulate great tasting products without artificial ingredients. Constantly reminding us that despite the costs-savings, there’s a reason why the majority of protein powders and beverages use artificial flavors, colors and sweeteners.

We believe quality tastes better by using ingredients from natural origin, and healthy doesn’t mean compromising taste. We believe in flavors of provenance and collaborate with Belgium’s finest Executive Chef Chocolatiers’ in their traditional time honored artisan craftsmanship to create rich, deep, decadent chocolate notes. Our French Vanilla isn’t just a fancy name. Rich, creamy natural gourmet vanilla notes that hail from 70 years of French heritage of exclusive vanilla specialization.

We believe if you make great products, you don’t need big marketing budgets to convince others to try your product. We believe in product quality over the power of persuasion (i.e. marketing). It’s why we invest in product development over marketing. Where our competitors have big marketing budgets, we prefer to invest in superior ingredients and world-class flavors.

* Mandatory label warnings are required in 28 countries for the use of the six major artificial colors due to an adverse effect on activity and attention in children.
* The artificial sweetener ‘aspartame’ requires a label warning: ‘contains a source of phenylalanine’ – to aid individuals who suffer from phenylketonuria (PKU).
‡ The treatment of cows with growth hormones (rBST/rBGH) are banned in 34 countries.

The Never List

Below is a list of ingredients that will NEVER be found in any SYGENIX® product.

Nothing beats natural taste. It’s why natural ingredients cost a premium to their artificial alternatives. And that’s why we use only natural flavors. By selecting the finest premium ingredients we create bold, aromatic flavors that taste real. Savor the flavor of clean, guilt-free nutritious indulgence; infused with our full-bodied, natural gourmet flavor sensations.

Aspartame, Acesulfame Potassium (Ace K), Sucralose, Advantame, Saccharin, or any other artificial sweetener will never be found in any SYGENIX® product. We only use sweeteners from natural origin. One sweetener we use (Thaumatin from the katemfe fruit) costs over $3,000 USD per kilogram. Fortunately Thaumatin is over 2,000 times sweeter than sugar, so only a minuscule amount is required. We could save a small fortune if we switched to artificial sweeteners, but this would compromise our values of ‘Quality before Profits’.

We don’t follow the industry norm of using artificial colors simply because they are a cheaper alternative to natural colors. And because we use colors from natural origin, SYGENIX® products do not require the label warnings (that are mandatory in 28 countries) for the use of artificial colors.

‘Non-Dairy Creamers’ are commonly used in the supplements industry to add a creamy mouth feel to your whey protein shake and/or aid in solubility. It’s what makes a protein shake heavier in taste by emulating the look, feel and flavor of cream. Ironically the term ‘non-dairy creamer’ is an oxymoron because you can’t have cream without dairy. In the absence of dairy, supplement companies use oils that contain saturated and trans fat. Below is a list of the most commonly used ingredients that you might read on the label of a competitor’s protein powder:

    – Palm kernel oil
    – Partially hydrogenated soybean oil
    – Corn syrup solids
    – Genetically modified oils
    – Monoglycerides and diglycerides

SYGENIX® protein powders contain whey derived from grass fed cows that are free from bovine growth hormones (rBST/rBGH), chemicals and pesticides.

  • NO GMO’s
SYGENIX® products contain no genetically modified ingredients. Some of our competitors opt for genetically modified ingredients because they are cheaper than non-GMO alternatives.

‘Denatured’ protein is processed at high temperatures which ‘denatures’ and damages critical immuno supportive compounds and amino acids. Denatured whey protein is processed at high temperature – above 160 degrees Fahrenheit (72 degrees Celsius) – to achieve pasteurization. High heat and denaturing processing are the quickest and cheapest ways to dry protein. However, it should also be noted that extreme heat is the worst drying process for proteins because it ruptures (“denatures”) and reforms the natural protein bonds into cross-links. This slows down the digestion and absorption process because these cross-linked proteins have thousands more bonds for the enzymes in your intestines to break down. Because it takes longer for the amino acids to reach the muscles, it causes about a 65% less nitrogen retention.

SYGENIX® proteins are ‘undenatured’ to preserve the bio-availability of amino acids through ultrafiltered, low temperature, cold processing which leaves the polypeptide chains and immunoglobulins intact. Undenatured whey is able to raise your body’s most underproduced and most sought-after amino acid: “Glutathione”. Glutathione is the highest rated antioxidant known to man, and is naturally produced by the human body through the synthesis of amino acids in the liver. It is used by virtually every single cell in the body to neutralize and dispose of harmful toxins. Glutathione is the most needed amino acid because it’s the hardest to consume in our diet.

Undenatured whey builds muscle and raises glutathione. Undenatured whey (being bioactive from cold processing) contains three specific proteins (albumin, lactoferrin, and lactalbumin) that are very high in amino acids which are not commonly available in our daily diet. Albumin, lactoferrin, and lactalbumin are extremely crucial to the amino acid called bonded cystein (or cystine), which is found in raw meat, raw eggs, and raw cow’s milk.
