Whey protein concentrate (WPC) and whey protein isolate (WPI) both share the same initial manufacturing process. The difference between the two happens during the finishing stages of filtration.
The source of WPC in your SYGENIX natural whey protein powder is cold processed and micro-filtered. Undenatured, native whey protein minimally processed at low temperatures to preserve the bioavailability of antioxidants and support raised immune system function.
All WPI starts as WPC. The additional filtration from micro-filteration to ultra-filtration transforms the WPC into WPI, by filtering the majority of the fat and lactose. The end result: WPI contains a higher protein purity (per gram) with less fat and lactose than WPC. From the dairy, WPI contains a standardised industry specification known as WPI90 (i.e. 90% protein) and WPC80 (80% protein).
